Who Are You? A Dragon Slayer? How I Learned to Do This Daily.

Who Are You? A Dragon Slayer? How I Learned to Do This Daily.

Building businesses is often admired from the outside.

While, on the inside, it can have all the ugly feels. Overwhelm, never enough, overworked and maybe even unpaid.

It's what you choose to do with those feelings that make or break you.

When I opened Meishan Preservation and took on the American Meishan Breeders Association, my original business, Jensen Reserve, was in an explosive growth window.

This all happened at a crossroads for my husband and I in a "what are we going to do for money' moment created by the Covid lockdown.

Our oldest & most successful business had closed and we really didn't know if it was going to reopen.

So we jumped at the opportunity to add more opportunity here.

Which was exciting, and wonderful and full of promise!

And then my husband went back to the other business to rebuild.

It was the right thing to do, but, it left me with 3 startups....and I will never do that again.

To say the least, I dealt with all those emotions I mentioned above.

Until one day, I realized I had to make a change.

I was drowning in my work.

I was going to go down in a ball of flames or figure out how to thrive

From that crossroads, I realized that I was accomplishing a lot of things in a given day.....and that most of those things weren't serving my goals well.

That was the turning point for me to focus my efforts on.......

What Matters Most Today.

I now ask myself 3 things throughout my day:

  1. Will this push my companies in the right direction?
  2. Did today's work serve me and pursue my goals?
  3. What do I need to make sure I make happen next?

And that is when I really started slaying dragons.....
